A Gaza ceasefire is more plausible today : Marwan Bishara

Al Jazeera’s senior political analyst Marwan Bishara argues that while the recent Iran ceasefire has increased the chances of a ceasefire in Gaza, major obstacles remain. He notes that Netanyahu feels politically empowered to consider a deal despite far-right pressure, especially as most Israelis now want an end to the war. Bishara explains that Israel’s military sees no further objectives in Gaza, and US pressure is mounting for a resolution. However, key sticking points include Hamas’s demand for a full Israeli withdrawal and a permanent end to the war, while Netanyahu still insists on only a temporary ceasefire to maintain control.
