Cricket Turned Away from Anaya Bangar. She’s Still Showing Up

Cricket coach Sanjay Bangar’s daughter, Anaya Bangar, who once played in the under-19 boys’ category, opened up to me about her journey toward self-acceptance while growing up in the hyper-masculine world of Indian cricket.
“I faced a lot of misunderstandings. Nobody is there for me, I am there for myself,” she said, reflecting on the challenges she faced — including how her family came to terms with her identity.
